Roll-Kraft hosts student for day of engineering education
Mentor, OH. (PRWEB) November 27, 2012
Roll-Kraft recently welcomed a student from a nearby school to spend a day at the company shadowing a Roll-Kraft engineer. The student was 6th grader, Evan Ditchman. Evan had expressed an interest in engineering as a possible career option. His day at Roll-Kraft allowed a close-up look at engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Roll-Kraft Engineering Manager, Steve Zienka, went through his regular day while being shadowed by Evan and explained and illustrated the overall activities of an engineer within the Roll-Kraft organization. The day included a one-on-one plant tour with an explanation of the products manufactured at Roll-Kraft, a look at the engineering design software, and an observation of the interactions between the various company departments, including manufacturing, sales, and also with the customer directly.
Roll-Kraft has been in business since 1963 and manufactures tooling for the tube & pipe and roll forming industries. This tooling is used to produce many everyday items, such as furniture, automobiles, appliances, building products, solar panel frames, highway signs and guardrails, and hundreds more.
With an eye towards the future, Roll-Kraft takes a deliberate interest in bringing attention to the high-paying, skilled jobs in manufacturing that are available to the next generation. In that effort, Roll-Kraft frequently participates in various programs, such as student shadowing, and other events to encourage students to consider manufacturing when choosing a career. In addition, the company strongly supports and participates in the efforts of the Alliance for Working Together, a group that promotes careers in manufacturing.
Roll-Kraft has its headquarters in Mentor, Ohio, and maintains other facilities in Frankfort, Illinois (Roll-Kraft Northern), and Ontario, Canada (Roll-Kraft Ltd.).
