CMPD: Monday shootings connected

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A gunman opens fire in a west Charlotte neighborhood, spraying two homes with bullets and injuring a woman inside.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are on the hunt for the gunman who fired around a dozen bullets into two westside homes.

Around 11pm Monday, police were called out to the 3500 block of Blessing Street near Wilkinson Boulevard for a reported shooting.

There, they found a woman who was injured, but right now it's unclear if she was actually hit by one of the flying rounds, or debris during the incident.

According to the CMPD, she was grazed across the abdomen, but her injuries were so minor she wasn't transported to the hospital.

Officers say an unknown person out on the street opened fire hitting two of the houses, and fled a short time later.

It's unknown why the shooting happened.  Police said they are getting few clues from neighbors in the area.

If you have any information that might help the CMPD find the person responsible, you're asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 704-334-1600.
