CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department says that two Monday shootings in Charlotte are related to one another.

Police told WBTV Tuesday that the shootings were a result of an ongoing dispute, and that all the people involved knew one another.

The incident began Monday just before 4 p.m. on Deherradora Avenue near Bost Street.

One person was taken to CMC with potentially life threatening injuries, according to a police spokesperson.

Then, around 11 p.m., a gunman opened fire in a west Charlotte neighborhood, spraying two homes with bullets and injuring a woman inside.

The second shooting took place on the 3500 block of Blessing Street near Wilkinson Boulevard.

It is not clear if the injured woman was actually hit by one of the flying rounds, or debris during the incident, police told WBTV.

According to the CMPD, she was grazed across the abdomen, but her injuries were so minor she wasn't transported to the hospital.

Officers say an unknown person out on the street opened fire hitting the houses, and fled a short time later.

Anyone with information in either shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at (704)334-1600.
