CMPD arrests man in armed robbery case

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested a man they say is responsible for robbing a woman at gunpoint in a local neighborhood.

On November 20, around 3:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to an armed robbery call for service in the 6500 block of North Tryon Street. Once on scene, the officers spoke to a victim who said she was walking to a friend's house when a man pulled up in a car, jumped out and took her purse at gunpoint, police said.

The victim called 911 with a detailed description of the suspect and the plate number of the vehicle he was traveling in, the report states.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle in the 1100 block of West Sugar Creek Road.

Information and evidence gathered during the investigation implicated Juan Carlos Peole-Romero, 35 in the robbery, police told WBTV.

He was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
