Charlotte on the cheap? Championship tickets selling for $3

After a rocky season for the Atlantic Coast Conference, interest in the Championship game here in Charlotte seems to be bottoming out.

With less than six days to go before the game, thousands of tickets are being posted on ticket-selling website, Stub Hub.  Some of them for very cheap.

As of lunchtime on Monday, there were nearly 150 sets of tickets selling for $10 or less.  The highest set of tickets - nearly a thousand dollars.

The game, set to kick off Saturday night in Charlotte, as Florida State is going head-to-head with Georgia Tech.

The top-ten ranked Seminoles were beaten by the Florida Gators over the weekend to end the regular season at 10 and 2.

The barely bowl eligible Yellow Jackets season has been less interesting ending at 6 and 6 after being trounced by rival Georgia over the weekend.

And if you look further, Georgia Tech wasn't even the first choice.

The UNC Tar Heels and the University of Miami are technically ranked higher in the Coastal division, but both were ineligible to play in the Championship game or post-season bowl game due to sanctions.

After quickly selling more than 50,000 tickets to the championship game, tickets are now not such a hot commodity for lots of fans.

WBTV checked out and found ticket sets for as low as $3 for the game on Monday.

The past two years, including last season's game between the Clemson Tigers and the Virginia Tech Hokies were sold out.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution pointed out SEC Championship Game tickets are going for a wee bit more. The cheapest tickets for the Georgia-Alabama game as of Monday morning on were $299, and those were for nosebleed seats in the end zone.

Only six tickets total were going for less than $350, and many sellers were asking for $5,000 for lower sideline seats.
