SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A 50-year-old woman has died after she was shot multiple times in her San Tan Valley home Sunday afternoon, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.

She has been identified as Linda Pirelli-Brown.

The shooter was an acquaintance of the woman's 25-year-old daughter, Nicole Frauton, according to PCSO spokesman Tim Gaffney.

Frauton had taken her 8-year-old sister to a nearby McDonald's when she got a call from her mom saying a man with a gun was inside their home, Gaffney said.

Frauton immediately called 911. Pirelli-Brown was rushed to Banner Ironwood, then to Scottsdale Osborne, with gunshot wounds to her face and chest.

Another 8-year-old daughter and a stepfather who also live at the residence were not home at the time of the shooting, Gaffney said.

Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Detectives were not able to speak to Frauton because she began to hyperventilate and was transported to Banner Ironwood Hospital.

The person of interest authorities are looking for is someone the victim's family knows, Ganney said. Nobody is in custody yet.

Sheriff's investigators have served a warrant on the home and recovered evidence from the crime scene, Gaffney said. Detectives have also canvassed the neighborhood and conducted multiple interviews.
