BLOWING ROCK, NC (WBTV) -

About two dozen firefighters are working to control a forest fire in Caldwell County.

Monday afternoon, the NC Forestry Service said the fire is north of 268 and east of 321 in the northern part of Caldwell County.

By 5:00 p.m. Monday, the flames were active on about 30 acres, and 20% contained.

Fire crews are running night operations to monitor and patrol the flames. Rain is in the forecast Tuesday, and firefighters hope that will extinguish the remaining flames. If it doesn't, Forestry Officials say the flames could spread to 100 acres.

Fire investigators say the flames sparked from a 45-acre forest fire off Globe Mountain Road, near Blowing Rock, Saturday morning. The cause of that fire is under investigation.

No injuries have been reported, and the flames are not a threat to any homes or buildings.
