CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
A U.S. Airways flight to Charlotte was diverted after the aircraft reportedly struck a bird while in flight, according to a U.S. Airways spokesperson.
Flight 3284 was heading to Charlotte from Key West when the incident happened Friday afternoon. The flight was diverted to Ft. Myers Airport in Florida.
There were 73 passengers on board the aircraft. All are okay, U.S. Airways said.
A flight with an on-call crew and aircraft will take off from Charlotte Douglas International Airport for Ft. Myers around 5 p.m. to bring the passengers to Charlotte, the spokesperson told WBTV.
The flight, which was scheduled to land in Charlotte at 12:30 p.m., and landed around 9:45 p.m. Copyright 2012 WBTV. All rights reserved.
