Students petitioning for more security after reported sexual assault

Good Thanksgiving Eve, Maureen O'Boyle here in the WBTV newsroom with a look at some of the stories we've got coming up at five o'clock.

Police are on the scene right now of a homicide in the Grier Heights neighborhood.  We have a reporter there gathering the latest information; details live at 5:00.

Students at UNC Charlotte say they want more protection on campus and they're petitioning the school to get it! They want security beefed after a reported sexual assault on campus.  We'll speak with the student organizing the effort.

These days between social media and email accounts most of us have several passwords to remember. If you've given up and are just using the same password for all accounts be warned, it's not a good idea!  Kristen Miranda is On Your Side telling us why you could be giving the cyber creeps easy access to your information!

    Nearly 40 people approached the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) board at the Tuesday night meeting. They each had one minute to get their point across. The subject was the district's Multiculturalism Policy. Board members voted 7-2 to approve the changes recommended by the policy committee back in October.

    Officials are on the scene after a pedestrian was struck in north Charlotte Tuesday night. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Sugar Creed Road around 10 p.m. According to reports, it appears to be a hit and run.
