CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit said they have the man responsible for the latest murder in the Grier Heights community.

Gregory David Tillery, 24,  was arrested Thursday in Greenwood, South Carolina by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Tillery is accused of killing Michael Donnell Anthony, 29.

The incident began when a call for service came in on November 23 in reference to shots being fired on the 3000 block of Dunn Avenue, near Orange Street on the outskirts of the Grier Heights neighborhood.

Once on scene, officers found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood to speak with potential witnesses.

The extradition process will begin immediately, but there is no current timetable on Mr. Tillery's return to Mecklenburg County.

Anyone with other information about the incident is asked to call (704)432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective, or call Crimestoppers at (704)334-1600.
