CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

On Thursday, November 15, firefighters from North Carolina left for New York to help FDNY families devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

CFD members Chris McCord, from Station 8, and Steven Williams from Station 32, were joined by a tractor trailer load of critical supplies to support their fellow firefighters.

The Charlotte team met up with firefighters from FDNY Eng-217, who, since September 11, 2001, have enjoyed a great relationship supporting each other, Captain Rob Brisley of CFD said.

Valuable tools, equipment, and building supplies that could not be found in the region were delivered and quickly used over the weekend as firefighters overhauled homes that were flooded.

"There are no borders when it comes to helping another member of the fire service in need," Captain Rob Brisley, of CFD, said Tuesday.
