The Carolina Thread Trail (The Thread), is a 15-county, two-state initiative to connect our region with a network of trails and natural areas.
"The thread" celebrates its fifth anniversary and marking its 100th mile of trail and opens to the public Saturday.
The milestone was commemorated at an event at the West Branch Nature Preserve Trail located in Davidson. At the event, "The Thread" unveiled a unique mile marker to represent the 100th mile of open trail.
During the event, The Carolina Thread Trail announced a social media photo contest, and Dr. Mark Stanback and Dr. David Grant, from the Davidson College biology department, led a nature hike.
The nearest street address to the trail entrance is 18229 Shearer Road in Davidson.
