HUNTERSVILLE, NC (WBTV) -
Ed Winters got 3 banged up bicycles last year and fixed them up for some of the younger clients of the Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen in Huntersville.
This year, his plan was to do 6. But ask him today where that plan stands and he'll likely point to the 40 shiny bikes lined up in his driveway.
"Excellent, this is excellent I'm telling you. It don't get any better!" said Ed while marveling at the dozens of old bikes that now look brand new.
Sandy Tilley with the soup kitchen says Ed won't take a dime to pay for the parts to get the bikes new again.
"He won't take a penny, he won't even talk about taking a penny. That's not why he's here," said Tilley.
