Two Appalachian State University students are behind bars for conducting a violent home invasion.
Boone Police were called to an apartment on Coffey Street at about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The people who lived in the apartment had been attacked by two masked men. The victims reported being attacked with a club and a hammer as the masked intruders demanded money and drugs.
Neighbors helped the victims fight off the intruders, and subdued one suspect until police arrived.
The second suspect escaped.
Travis Dean Edgerton from Chapel Hill was arrested and charged with felony burglary, felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Edgerton is being held in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond. He is expected in court in December.
The second suspect turned himself to the police department on Thursday.
Wyatt Boyd Golter Brown, 20, is charged with felony first degree burglary, felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the news release from the Boone Police Department.
He is being held in the Watauga County Detention Center under $100,000 bond.
One victim was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
