Lincoln County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins in an area off Highway 150 east of Boger City.
On Thursday morning residents on Queens Drive, Royal Drive, Arden Drive and Prince Drive reported some person or persons had entered their unlocked vehicles. In two incidents the residents were unsure if any items were taken. In another the thief took a black bag and miscellaneous items and in the fourth case, gasoline was stolen from the vehicle.
Vehicle break-ins were also been reported on Wednesday morning at homes on Fernwood Drive and Briarwood Road. Deputies recovered a ladies purse and a checkbook discarded on the side of the road but a laptop computer valued at $2,000 is still missing. In each case, the vehicles were unlocked and in one incident the keys had been left in the vehicle allowing the suspect to open the trunk of the car.
In an October 21, 2012 vehicle break-in, a surveillance camera at a residence in the 1700 block of Old Mill Road, which is located nearby, recorded a suspect searching through a vehicle. In that case electronic items, cash and checkbooks were stolen.
Anyone with information, or who may have been in the area during the overnight or early morning hours is asked the call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 704-736-8856 or Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909. Callers can remain anonymous and receive a reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest.
