There will soon be a shakeup within the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district (CMS). New Superintendent Dr. Heath Morrison ordered audits to be conducted to determine what decisions he needs to make so the district can be more effective and efficient.
Audits were conducted on CMS' communications and Human Resources (HR) department.
"We plan to begin the work with an initial reorganization," Morrison said. "Which will be followed by additional reshaping of our executive and senior staff during 2013. This is part of a cycle of continuous improvement that will keep us flexible and responsive to our students, families, schools and employees."
The audit team discovered problems with both departments. Many think the communications department missed several opportunities to be effective and the HR department was faulted for doing a poor job in recruiting and retaining effective teachers.
Morrison will inform the community how he plans to proceed with leadership over those two departments at the school board's Tuesday night meeting.
