CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Tickets for the 2013 Wells Fargo Championship are now on sale.
The Wells Fargo Championship, celebrating its 11th year, is not only one of the premier golf events in the North Carolina region, but also in the world.
The 2013 tournament will be held April 29-May 5.
A combination of Quail Hollow Club and the spirit of the Charlotte area community are among the reasons the Wells Fargo Championship has and should continue to draw many of the world's top golfers to Charlotte.
During the past ten years, Quail Hollow Club has welcomed all of the world's top 25 players and the tournament's list of champions is consistently considered among golf's elite.
This year, Rickie Fowler added his name to the list of golf's young stars who have earned their first PGA TOUR victory at the Wells Fargo Championship. On the first extra hole in a playoff, Fowler birdied No. 18. at Quail Hollow Club to defeat 2010 champion Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points. With this victory, he joined Anthony Kim and McIlroy as young players to get their first TOUR victory in Charlotte.
Past champions are: 2003 David Toms, 2004 Joey Sindelar, 2005 Vijay Singh, 2006 Jim Furyk, 2007 Tiger Woods, 2008 Anthony Kim, 2009 Sean O'Hair, 2010 Rory McIlroy, 2011 Lucas Glover and 2012 Rickie Fowler.
Six of the tournament's ten champions have earned major championship titles and three champions have held the No.1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking at some point in time. Currently, 2010 champion McIlroy is World No. 1.
Because of consistent overall excellence, the Wells Fargo Championship was awarded unprecedented back-to-back "Best in Class" Awards in 2009 and 2010 by the PGA TOUR.
Traditionally tickets have been in high-demand and fans are encouraged to purchase early. Grounds ticket prices start with the $25 Practice Pack, which consist of three individual daily tickets for Monday through Wednesday. Also popular is the $140 Weekly Book, which represents a $75 savings from individual daily purchases. Through the years, many fans have found the Weekly Book to be a great gift.
To insure holiday delivery, order before December 18.
Once again, parking and round-trip shuttle service from tournament authorized lots is FREE for the April 29-May 5 PGA TOUR event at Quail Hollow Club.
The Wells Fargo Championship also offers several Hospitality and Premium Ticket options. Packages start at $895. New for 2013 is the Overlook Suites package. Enjoy all the excitement in a scenic lakeside setting on the 17th tee, with panoramic views of three greens: 14, 16, and 17. This location is the best spot for the avid golf fan. No other place offers such a variety of PGA TOUR action.
Patrons can purchase tickets and research Hospitality and Premium Ticket options by visiting www.wellsfargochampionship.com or by calling (800) 945-0777. To accommodate families, children ages 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission (one child per paying adult).
Champions for Education, a non-profit host organization, manages and operates the Wells Fargo Championship.
As a result of the tournament, Champions for Education's impact on charity has been awareness and over $13.5 million the past nine years.
Now leading up to its 11th year, the tournament is intended as an annual tradition that will bring players and patrons back each year for an unforgettable golf experience.
