Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies and investigators shutdown two meth labs in eastern Lincoln County on Thursday.

In the first case, investigators received a call on the Drug Tip Line and were able to get a search warrant for a home in the 4500 block of Hunter Rhyne Road in Lincolnton.

Investigators found materials indicating a meth lab inside the home, and arrested three people.

The following were arrested and charged with felony Manufacturing a Schedule II Controlled Substance:

  • Aaron Stuart Vancamp, 40
  • Daniel Phillip Stoddard, 22
  • Valarie Christine McDowell, 42

All three lived at the home. Bond was set at $25,000 secured for each suspect.

Catawba County Narcotics investigators and the State Bureau of Investigation assisted with the cleanup of methamphetamine precursors.

Thursday night, a deputy on routine patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle pulling off Business Highway 16 South onto McIntosh Road at about 10:30 p.m.

The deputy said the license plate on the vehicle was bent down in a way that made it unable for him to read it, so he pulled over the vehicle.

Two people were inside the vehicle, and they gave the deputy permission to search the interior and trunk of the car.

The deputy said he found a crack pipe and syringe inside the car, and a back pack with chemicals to make meth inside the trunk.

The vehicle was towed to the impound lot at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office where the SBI processed and cleaned it Friday morning.

Two people were charged in the second incident.

Curtis Lee Blalock, 44, of Old Plank Road, Stanley and Michael Elston Smith, Jr., 38, of Furnace Road, Iron Station were each charged with one felony count of Possess/Distribute Meth Precursor and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Blalock was also charged with No Operator's License. Blalock is under a $5,500 secured bond while bond for Smith was set at $5,000 secured.

Lincoln County Sheriff David Carpenter praised the officers' actions saying the patrol remains vigilant in checking suspicious vehicles especially those in known drug areas.

He went on to say, "Thanks to the hard work of our drug investigators on following up on several leads that lead to the search warrant at the location on Hunter Rhyne Road.  This is the first of probably more to come in our area as information continues to come in concerning drug activity."

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Narcotics investigators follow up and investigate every tip that comes in to the Drug Tip Line at 704-736-8606.
