North Carolina Department of Transportation officials announced Friday morning that construction on Independence Boulevard (U.S. 74) in both directions between Eastway Drive and Briar Creek Road in Charlotte on Friday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, November 11, has been postponed. The construction would have required lane closures. NCDOT officials did not indicate why the resurfacing of the road was delayed. The change in plans is welcomed by motorists visitors to the Southern Christmas Show, which is at The Park Expo and Conference Center, 2500 East Independece Blvd, November 8-18.
