CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A BOLO-- be on the lookout-- issued for three men who've been trailing people home, then robbing them in their own driveways.
CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson said, "Between 8:00PM and 11:00PM we had five armed robberies."
All five were in northeast Charlotte-- the Newell and Hickory Grove area-- on Glencannon Drive, Ribble Court, Barton Creek Drive, Coble Road and David Earl Drive.
Surveillance video from one of the stick ups shows a dark, four-door car, possibly a Dodge or Chevy prowling around the neighborhoods.
When a family arrives home with kids in the back seat-- that car pulls up behind. Two men jump out and surround the family. One has a baseball bat, the other points a gun at the driver. It had to be frightening.
"It would have frightened me to death," said Detective Cuthbertson.
"But not only do they rob them, they attacked them, too. They attacked them, they struck them, they made them get out of the car, kicked them on the ground, and one female had hair pulled and she went into some kind of shock from that."
So why are they picking these five families to rob? In one case, they followed a woman home from a check cashing store. In the other robberies, CMPD believes it was just random crime. Police are looking for three people-- the driver and the two bandits.
Detective Cuthbertson considers them very dangerous.
