I-77 south in Davidson reopens after tractor trailer crash, fuel spill

DAVIDSON, NC (WBTV) -

All lanes of Interstate 77 South in Davidson are open again after an accident involving a car and a tractor trailer caused a massive fuel spill.

The accident happened between exits 28 and 30 around 9 Thursday night, according to Cornelius Police.

Medic did respond to the scene, however no one was injured.

It took State Department of Transportation crews about five hours to clean up all of the fuel that spilled on the roadway.

All lanes on the southbound side of the highway were closed for two hours. All but one lane was closed until about 2:30 Friday morning.
