MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

Late Thursday afternoon, the superintendent and board of education of Iredell-Statesville Schools announced a change in leadership for Lake Norman High School.

Keith Gentle, the current principal of the Collaborative College for Technology & Leadership (CCTL), will take over at LNHS effective Tuesday, November 13.

Prior to working at CCTL, Gentle was the principal of Monticello School. Before that, he served as a teacher and instructional facilitator/assistant principal at Lake Norman High. He has more than 25 years of experience in public education.

The superintendent says the search will begin immediately to find a permanent replacement for CCTL, a process the district hopes to wrap up within approximately 30 days. During the transition, retired administrator Penny Hedrick will serve as interim principal. Gentle will assist.

Lake Norman High School's current principal Todd Griffin was suspended with pay a little more than two weeks ago.

At the time, Iredell-Statesville Schools said the suspension was pending the outcome of an investigation by the school district.

In Thursday's release, district officials said Griffin would remain employed by the district as the assistant principal at Statesville High School. The move is effective Tuesday, November 13.

No reason has been given for the changes.
