The driver of a box truck was fortunate to escape serious injury when the truck crashed and overturned on Interstate 85 Thursday morning.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes of the interstate just before 8 a.m., according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The truck had flipped onto the driver's side, trapping the driver for a short time.
Rescue crews from both Rowan and Davidson County responded. Within minutes the driver was able to climb from the cab. He appeared to have cuts and scrapes to his right arm and was treated by Rowan County EMS.
The interstate slowed to a stop while crews worked to remove the truck from the roadway.
The right three lanes were closed and reopened around noon.
At this time the North Carolina State Highway Patrol has not released details of the accident.
