CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Johnson & Wales University is teaming up with local veterans organizations to host a Veterans Information Fair on Election Day.

The Info Fair is designed to help veterans and their families better understand the Post-9/11 GI Bill. It provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001, or those discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days.

Organizations scheduled to attend include: Purple Heart Homes, Outward Bound Veterans Programs, USO-NC Charlotte Chapter, Department of Veterans Affairs Charlotte Vet Center, JWU Student Academic & Financial Services, Department of Veteran Affairs Woman's Healthcare, and The National Association for Black Veterans.

Currently, there are 130 JWU students enrolled under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. There are 54,000 veterans in Mecklenburg County.

The Info Fair is a drop-in event. It runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the University Events Center, located at 801 West Trade Street. The events center is inside the Academic Center, across from Starbucks, in Gateway Village.

All veterans and family members are welcome to attend and learn how they can benefit from the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
