Mooresville H.S. investigates bullying, after teen couple comes forward

MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

The Mooresville Graded School District has launched an investigation into the reported bullying of a teenage couple.

One student has already been suspended and others have been questioned by administration officials. Alex Owens,15, and her boyfriend Bobby Gregg, 15, say they are afraid to go to school every morning.

"(It's) name calling, physical abuse; mental abuse," Owens said.

The Mooresville High School Sophomores say they are constantly picked on because of how they look, how they dress, and their relationship.

"I walk into school and first thing in the morning people start saying stuff," Gregg said.

The two say they've been physically ill from the alleged taunting, and it happens on and off school property.

"They will kick you while you are down and just not care," she said.

The district has interviewed several students, and suspended one, according spokeswoman Tanae McLean.

"We do take this very seriously. in this case, we have looked into it. we have talked to the students," McLean said.

Alex's mother Tricia says she is pleased that the school is taking action, but she just wants to see results. She said she will leave Alex in the district because of the good curriculum.

The Mooresville Graded School District has guidance counselors available for any student who feels like they are being bullied.
