CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The 5th Annual CureSearch Walk for Children's Cancer kicked off Saturday in uptown.

Over 750 people participated in the walk, including 51 teams, the most ever for the event in Charlotte. Each team was in honor, support, or memory of individual kids in the Charlotte area who are fighting or have fought cancer.

The event raised $95,000, which will go to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Every day 36 children are diagnosed with cancer, a spokesman for CureSearch said.

At the event, white balloons were released, each by a Charlotte parent who had lost a child to cancer.
