CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
If you plan to vote early, time is running out. Saturday, November 3rd is the last day of early voting in North Carolina.
Election officials at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections say it was busy at early voting sites Friday.
At the North County Regional Library in Huntersville, library officials say the line of early voters started at 9:45 in the morning and continued throughout the day. The voting machines are on the second floor in the community room. The line snaked down to the first floor and out to the parking lot.
Voters say it was about an hour and a half wait to get in and cast their votes.
One early voter says "we figured we'd wait a while - almost election day. So we said let's try today. I'm surprised so many people - figured they'd be working - daytime".
Early voting sites are open from 10a-5p on Saturday. Election officials say if you're in line at 5p, you will still be allowed to vote. However, if you try to get in line after 5p, you'll be turned away.
So far, more than two million North Carolinians have voted early.
