CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have identified three suspects involved in a murder at 1900 Academy Street that occurred on December 15, 2007.

On Dec. 15, 2007, at approximately 4:17 p.m., patrol officers with the Eastway Division responded to the 1900 block of Academy Street.

Upon arrival they located a black Ford Explorer stopped on Academy Street that had been occupied by four subjects, including the victim.

The four subjects were inside of the vehicle traveling on Academy Street, when an unknown suspect fired several rounds at their vehicle, striking the victim.

The victim was identified as Tawanna Montgomery, 43. Montgomery was taken to CMC-Main, where she was pronounced dead by hospital personnel.

Homicide Detectives, along with Crime Scene Search, responded to the scene to collect evidence.  During the course of their investigation, detectives discovered that the suspect had fired rounds at the victim vehicle while standing next to a gray Cadillac.

Detectives were led to the 1700 block of Anderson Street, where an unknown group of subjects had exited a gray Cadillac and taken a rifle into a storage unit.  Detectives located the rifle, which was collected by Crime Scene Search as evidence.

Information recently obtained, along with assistance from the community, have led Homicide Detectives to be able to identify three suspects involved in Tawanna Montgomery's murder.

Emileo Estevez Blount, 22, was arrested on Oct. 26, and was charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.  Emmanuel Lee Blount, 23, is currently in the custody of NCDOC; he is also charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
