GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -
A former Appalachian State University football player has been reunited with his championship ring.
Cortez Gilbert, 24, played for the defense on the football team at Appalachian State University from 2006-2008, when the program won two of its three consecutive Division I national championships.
The ring was reported stolen from a residence on North Marietta Street in October.
The National Football Championship Ring, valued at $1,000, was accidentally left in the restroom by Gilbert at the Gaston County Department of Social Services.
It was returned to him the next day.
