STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

Police are looking for a man they believe stabbed another man in Statesville, according to the Statesville Police Department.

Zachary Brian Willis, 25, is wanted on one count each of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, ethnic intimidation, and property damage.

On October 31, officers responded to a local hospital to speak with a man who was reporting a stabbing. The man told the officers that he and a friend were at Sheetz store on Wilkesboro Highway when the incident began.

The victim told the officers as his friend went into the store, two men who appeared to be intoxicated, began using derogatory racial slurs towards him, and even threw something at his car. The men got into a vehicle with a female driver and a baby in the back seat and left the store, the report states.

The victim followed the vehicle out of the parking lot to get a tag number and to speak to the men about the object thrown at the car. When he pulled next to them, one of the men, believed to be Willis, got out of the car and stabbed the victim several times in the arm before getting back into the vehicle and pulling away, police said.

Willis is described as a white male, 5'10", with brown hair and hazel eyes. The vehicle he was in is described as a dark-colored Toyota 4-Runner.

Anyone with information regarding Willis' whereabouts is asked to contact the Statesville Police Department at (704)878-3406 or Crime Stoppers at (704)662-1340.
