CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Crisis Assistance Ministries is helping local families at risk of having their utilities cut off. Don't wait to ask for help until you are already disconnected – get help paying the bill so you don't have to pay the reconnection fee.

If you are a Mecklenburg County resident who cannot pay your energy bill, and you have received a late notice, you may visit Crisis Assistance Ministry at 500-A Spratt Street in Charlotte between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

For best service, be prepared to spend several hours at the agency. Take photo ID, proof of all income, and all past due utility notices.
