ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -
A missing mother of two from Alexander County was found in
Bassett, Virginia Tuesday. Investigators
say Steffie Meagan Adams, 25, is OK.
Family members reported Adams missing on October 12. They
told the Alexander County Sheriff's Office they had not heard from her since
September.
During the investigation, authorities said they had
outstanding warrants for Adams' arrest for Probation Violation. Her Probation
Officer last saw her in late August. Investigators believe Adams fled when she
learned about the warrants.
Authorities say they put Adams into a national database as a
missing person, and used local and regional media to help get her information
out to the public.
Investigators initially believed Adams was en route to
Missouri, where she has family, but again, she was found in Virginia, and is
safe.
No other information has been released at this time as to
how Adams was located. Investigators did send their appreciation saying, "The
Alexander County Sheriff's Office wishes to thank everyone who assisted in this
investigation by posting information about Steffie's disappearance and
providing information about her possible whereabouts".
