CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – "Same old story… same old story…" the words from Cam Newton from weeks back are resonating with yesterday's heartbreaking loss.
"You can be pleased with the way that they played, obviously not pleased with the outcome… but with the way we tried to do things." Head Coach, Ron Rivera, spoke highly of the team's effort and mentioned the success of some changes and failure of others.
With rumors surfacing about a potential trade and who is next to be fired, the Carolina Panthers have gained a lot of attention in the national spotlight. Rivera denies any trade for DeAngelo Williams and has not personally spoken with anybody about trading him.
As far as being the next to go, Rivera said he's not going to worry about that until he needs to and for now will keep pounding and focus on winning the next game.
The 1 and 6 record looks bad on paper but still has fan hope alive with five of those losses by 6 points or less.
Next week the Cats take on RGIII and the rest of the Washington Redskins. Rivera said Cam is improving on his skills of reading the play- a necessity to battle against the Skins' fast and complex offense, sure to put up points at home.
This Sunday, the Panthers and their fans will be looking for much needed win number two.
