Union County Family Speaks Out Following Loss of Husband and Father

Along Highway 200 just outside of Monroe, a Union County congregation pays tribute to a fallen neighbor.

Donald Lowery is being remembered as a friend and father with a very big heart.

His wife Kay was near him when Lowery lost his life this past Saturday.

"I saw it happen and being with him the last minutes. The conversation we had and seeing him laying there. I believe something good is gonna come out of it" she said.

Donald Lowery and his wife Kay were the heart and soul of the Holy Band of Inspiration church on Lancaster Highway.

She was the minister of this congregation, and is trying to make sense out of why her husband was hit by a car, while cutting grass near the  place of worship.

Family members like their daughter Bebe said it came out of nowhere.

"Something like this you can't prepare yourself for it. I didn't know that Friday night would be the last time I would see my father."

While Kay Lowery is looking for a positive lesson, she carries a heavy burden.

"I miss him right now. It hurts my heart there's a hole there."

According to reports, the driver has been identified as 37 year old Ronald Sutton who faces a number of charges.

The Union County Clerk of Courts office tells WBTV that no dates have yet been announced for his first court appearance.
