Designs inspired by children headline South Park fashion show

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Local fashion designers have some very special local children to thank for their most recent work.

Kicking off Simon Fashion Now at SouthPark is Trends and Friends Night on October 19th, which is free and open to the public.

It is an evening of fashion headlined by a design challenge among Charlotte's emerging fashion designers.  They're paired with a WBTV on-air personality as a model, and the designs they create are inspired by children involved with Autism Speaks' Charlotte Chapter.

Designers met with the children to discuss their favorite hobbies, activities and dreams, which will be incorporated into the runway styles.

Spectators and shoppers can take part in a silent auction and the proceeds benefit Autism Speaks.
