CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Today is a big day for Belk.
The company, headquartered in Charlotte, will host a grand-reopening ceremony at 19 stores across the country, including the one at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville.
It's part of a $600 million dollar investment.
Two years ago the company decided to rebrand itself.
$250 million dollars is going into store re-models.
$5.5 million dollars was spent at the one in Carolina Place.
Belk says it came out of the recession really strong which is allowing for these upgrades.
The project means new floors, the latest display fixtures, and customers can expect to see more merchandise.
The expansion is also a big deal because it means more jobs.
"Belk came out of the recession really strong and that allowed us to invest back into the company," said Belk Representative Jessica Graham.
"We'll be investing about $600 million dollars in the company over the next few years. And certainly a big part of the that is store investments."
At Carolina Place Mall, 20 more jobs will be added on top of the holiday hiring that will start soon.
Belk also will be giving away gift cards Wednesday, valued from $5 to $500 to the first 750 customers who enter the Pineville store.
