Antique furniture is one of the best investments you can make, because it's built to last and has stood the test of time.
Some of the most sought-after pieces today were made from what's called "flame mahogany," which happens to be one of Antique Expert Francesca de la Flor's specialties.
"We have a nineteenth-century English flame mahogany table. It's a very unique tea table. And it has a beautiful, book marked flame mahogany top and flame mahogany sides," says Francesca.
Flame mahogany was popular in the 1700's and 1800's and is highly valued because its grain is so beautiful.
But don't confuse antique flame mahogany with newer mahogany pieces -- the differences are easy to spot.
"I was able to buy this table for a very good price because everybody assumed it was broken, because there were no supports to hold up the leaves. But actually, all you really need to do is turn the table and the leaves are supported by the legs," says Francesca.
So keep your eyes peeled for antique flame mahogany. It's a treasure well worth the price, and will only get hotter as time goes by!
