On October 6, 2012 at 10:40 pm the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office received a call reference a person shot at 1717 Rattlesnake Lane in the Valmead community of Caldwell County.
Patrol units responded and found the victim Mark Sheldon Gentry with a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Gentry was treated and transported by Caldwell County EMS to Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
Detectives responded to the scene and stated their investigation. After speaking with witnesses the investigators developed a suspect and obtained warrants.
On October 7th detectives made contacted with Franklin and he was placed under arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. The investigation is ongoing into this case and no motive for the shooting is being released at this time.
Charged was Marshall Franklin III, 28, Franklin was taken before a magistrate and given a $9,000.00 secured bond. He has a first appearance in District Court of Lenoir on October 8.
