A man was killed late Saturday when he lost control of his car on Bringle Ferry Road.
The NC Highway Patrol says Brett Earnhardt, 47, crossed the center line, left the road on the left and hit a culvert. The car went airborne and Earnhardt was thrown from the car. He was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers say.
The crash happened around 11:00 pm, about a quarter mile from Earnhardt's home.
Troopers say Earnhardt was traveling too fast for conditions; the road was wet and the car was rounding a curve when the crash occurred.
