CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Just because a major world event is out of the news cycle, it does not mean those involved have stopped living with the challenges of recovery.
Akinori Ogata, a race car driver of Japanese descent, has organized a racing fundraiser to help the people of Japan who are still recovering from the devastating earthquake and tsunami.
It will be held on October 21st at The Pit Indoor Kart Racing in Mooresville. Families simply pay $15 to use the facility and all of that money will be donated through the Japanese Red Cross and the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta.
Akinori Ogata and Revae Bostwick visited WBTV News Sunday Morning to talk about why it is so important to them to hold this event.
