Moped crash claims two lives in Rowan County

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A second person has now died from injuries sustained in a moped crash on Jake Alexander Boulevard Thursday morning.

Thursday at 4:43am, Salisbury Police and Fire were called to Jake Alexander Blvd near Dan St reference to a traffic accident involving a fatality.

Two men were riding on a moped with no lights on in the outside lane on Jake Alexander Blvd traveling south- east towards the bowling alley, according to Salisbury Police.

A Jeep Cherokee driven by Patricia Jones of Dan St. pulled out of Dan St onto Jake Alexander to travel north towards Statesville Blvd. The jeep hit the moped knocking it into the travel lane of a Velazquez Inc. box truck driven by Enedino Caroso age 33, of Branch View Dr. Charlotte.

The truck was traveling north towards Statesville Blvd when it hit the moped.

The driver of the moped which was identified as James Dillon Logan age 18, of 701 Klumac Rd., died at the scene. The second occupant on the moped identified as Dillon R. Robertson age 19, of the same address, was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem and later died of his injuries.

Enedino Caroso was cited with having no operators license.  The investigating officer will meet with the District Attorney today to discuss if any charges are to be filed.
