CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Each year the Carolina Renaissance Festival draws huge crowds and this 19th season is expected to be no different.
In town for seven weekends, Saturdays and Sundays from October 6th through November 18th, it is a European style art and entertainment festival combining outdoor theater, circus entertainment, arts and crafts marketplace, a jousting tournament, and much more.
It takes place just north of Charlotte between Concord and Huntersville on Highway 73 at Poplar Tent Road (between I-77 and I-85).
The "Lord Mayor" of this year's festival visited WBTV News Saturday Morning to talk about what makes the festival so special and what is new this year.
