More than 15,000 people were without power in east Charlotte and Mint Hill early Tuesday afternoon.
Duke Energy crews say the outage was due to an equipment issue and was in the process of restoring power to the area. The outage was reported at 12:30 p.m., according to a Duke Energy spokeswoman.
By 1:45 p.m., the outages reported were down to 4,700. Power was restored fully by 3 p.m.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools report that Baine Elementary, Northeast Middle and Independence High Schools are all without power Tuesday afternoon.
