A Lancaster County teacher and coach has been arrested after deputies say he had a sexual relationship with a student for more than a year and a half.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Tony Allen Ford was charged with sexual battery of a student on Friday.
Deputies say the parent of a former student at Indian Land High School told officer that he was involved in "suspicious activity" and deputies began an investigation.
During the course of that investigation it was discovered that Ford, a teacher at Lancaster High School and the head girl's track coach at Indian Land High School, had a consensual sexual relationship with 16-year-old former student over a year and a half period.
The sexual relationship began when the student was 16 years old, deputies say.
Ford was jailed at the Lancaster County Detention Center and was released Saturday on a $15,000 surety bond.
