KANNAPOLIS - The Red Cross is helping a Kannapolis family now displaced after an early morning house fire.
At 2:47 am this morning the Kannapolis Fire Department responded to the fire at 214 Hahn Street. Firefighters arrived less than five minutes later to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home.
Two adults, one child and two cats were in the home at the time of the fire, all of which escaped without injury. The fire department was assisted on the scene by units from Kannapolis Police Department and Cabarrus County EMS.
The Landis Fire Department and Odell Volunteer Fire Departments provided district coverage during the incident.
Once the fire had been extinguished, the American Red Cross was notified to help the family with housing.
A portion of Ridge Ave was closed off to traffic for approximately 2 Hours.
