Family search for leads in woman's disappearance

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - While investigators search for clues in the disappearance of Crystal Morrison, Mechelle Carey worries her sister could be in danger.

"In my darkest hours, my concern is that somebody has my sister and she wants to get home to her son," said Carey.

The 31-year-old single mom vanished on August 23rd after leaving work on foot.

Police say Morrison called a friend to pick her up because she wasn't feeling well, but left before the friend arrived.

Witnesses recalled seeing her walking along Davidson highway in Concord around 1 in the afternoon.

A search of the area turned up nothing.

"That's why we're trying to keep her name out there, somebody had to have seen something, that's a very popular road," said Carey.

Investigators says Morrison did not carry a cell phone which makes the search more challenging.

They don't have any evidence of foul play, but family members fear the worst.

They say Morrison would never leave on her own and leave her 8 -year-old son behind.

"We know that she loves her son and that's where she wants to be, she's a great mom," said Carey.

Cabarrus County crime stoppers are offering up to a $1000 reward for any information.

Morrison's family will hold an awareness event for her Sunday, September 23rd at Dorton Park in Concord.

The event will run from 1pm until 5pm and will include activities.
