Lock down at elementary school lifted after possible shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A Charlotte area elementary school was locked down for more than 30 minutes on Thursday afternoon after reports of a shooting in west Charlotte.

According to officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, Thomasboro Elementary School was placed on lock down for more than 30 minutes. 

The school was locked down just before 1 p.m. and it was lifted at 1:31 p.m.

According to police, officers and emergency crews were called out to a possible shooting along the 600 block of Cantwell Street in west Charlotte.

Officers attempted to locate the victim, but didn't find any one.

CMS confirms to WBTV that Thomasboro Elementary School, which is located at 538 Bradford Drive, was locked down temporarily because of the incident.
