The Albemarle Police Department says they have located a missing seven-year-old girl who was abducted from school by her mother on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers say Makayla Simbra, 7, was found on Wednesday evening and is safe.
Her mother, Brittany Simbra, 27, picked her up from school sparking concern for officers. Police say the Brittany Simbra has no legal custody of Makayla.
Albemarle Police detectives have not released any additional details about the case.
It is not clear why Brittany Simbra took the child, knowing she does not have legal custody.
