CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Club at Longview is putting the final touches on the course for next week's Chiquita Classic. In 2013, this event will play a big part on who will get their PGA Tour Card for 2014.
It was announced today that the 2013 Chiquita Classic will be a part of the Web.com Tour Finals. The tourney will be on September 2-8 and will be the 2nd leg of the 4 tournaments to decide who gets their PGA playing privileges for the next season.
The top 75 money winners during the regular season of the Web.com Tour will qualify for the tour finals. Players on the regular PGA Tour Iwo finish 126-200 in FedEx Cup points will also qualify for the Web.com tour finals.
If the format would have been in place this season, PGA players like John Daly, Chris DiMarco, Camilo Villegas, Rocco Mediate, and Stuart Appleby would have been in the field for the Chiquita Classic.
