AJ Allmendinger reinstated into NASCAR

AJ Allmendinger was reinstated into NASCAR after his successful completion to the association's Road to Recovery Program.

Allmendinger was suspended from NASCAR indefinitely on July 24, for violating the sanctioning body's substance abuse policy.

The reinstatement came just days after Roger Penske, of Penske Racing, said that he was open to hiring Allmendinger again. Penske cut Allmendinger in August when his second drug test, called the "B" sample, confirmed the results of the first test.

Officials have not said what substance Allmendinger tested positive for. Allmendinger has said he tested positive for a stimulant and did not knowingly ingest a banned substance.
